Give thanks to the Holy One…
Let the weak say I am strong

The Sports Club Building at
Head Office compound was transformed into a veritable place
of worship on January 12 as jubilant members of Team WASA
joined in prayer and song at the 2nd Annual Inter-Faith
Service.
The theme, United In Prayer, was most
appropriate and in keeping with the underlying
sentiments of the 40th Anniversary Logo:
Celebrating Our Workforce, Our Achievements and Our
Vision for the Future.
“Messengers of the Word” delivered inspiring messages
that won the acclaim of the gathering.
Master of Ceremonies, Doodnath Bhola, noted that the service
was of special significance in light of this year being the
40th Anniversary of the Authority. It was a sentiment shared
by everyone in the jam-packed building.
Led by representatives of the dominant religious groups in
the country, the Team WASA congregation gave thanks to
God for blessings past.

The
Role of Team WASA |
"We as an
organization must acknowledge that to whom much is
given much is demanded. Let me assure each and every
member of Team WASA that from here on you will be
required to do more.
No longer must you be satisfied to come to work and
just simply do what you consider 'your job'. We have
to change the way we look at WASA and think of it in
terms of providing a service the customer wants--a
reliable supply of water and wastewater service for
which he must pay. We all need to look at our
individual jobs as part of what contributes towards
satisfying the customer." --CEO Errol Grimes, at
the Inter-Faith Service on January 12. |
And with passionate appeal,
they prayed for physical, moral and spiritual strength and
guidance to successfully meet the challenges of the current
thrust to provide a 24/7 water supply to the
population.
The congregation sang lustily with Sandra Bodkin and Deborah
Gay of Internal Audit. Then came Gloren Williams and Sean
Peters whose wonderfully performed duet, Let This Be You,
stirred souls to the extent that they gave the duo a
standing ovation.
The Service ended during pounding rain and with some of the
faithful wishing the praises in song had continued for just
a little longer to warm their hearts.
Sufficient though was the thought that those were
“showers of blessing” to fill the Authority’s
reservoirs.
Thank You, Lord!

Words of wisdom from the Inter-Faith Prayer Service
|
If
we don't do it (the job at hand) somebody else will do
it for us. (Doodnath Bhola, DGM
and Master of Ceremonies at the Service).
Leaders must lead from in front, not from behind
… may God strengthen us to meet the challenges
ahead. (Vishnu Goolcharan, of
Quality Control in his message).
It’s quite true that when we get a job we stop
looking for work... one good way to test the value of
your work is to ask yourself this question: If I left
my job, would it create a vacancy? (Patrice
Graham-Alleyne, Manager Customer Services, Tobago).
Without God, I/we can do nothing…it's like a
ship without a sail. (Spiritual
Baptist Jennifer Gift of FMD).
There is only one religion--love... live in
love; where love exists hate has no place. Pundit
Totaram Maharaj (former employee).
If you truly believe and understand that there
is a day of judgment, you will be careful of what you
do on the job. Let your spirituality impact on your
daily life…you (employees) are the salt of WASA.
Imam Salim Muwakil (President, WASA
Branch, NUGFW).
Give us the wisdom to use our natural resources
with intelligence; save us from drought. Fr.
Ferdinand Warner, O.P., St. Joseph R.C. Church. |
