WASA's Public Education Centre was officially opened in March 2006. The Centre was developed as a source of information on the water and wastewater sector in Trinidad and Tobago as well as issues related to water in general.
Overall Objectives:
- To educate the public on the water and wastewater sector
- To promote conservation/preservation of our precious water resource.
- To enhance the public's understanding and appreciation of the operations of WASA.
- To develop and sustain good relationships with all stakeholders.
Tours
One of the primary activities at the Centre is tours. Visitors are taken through different areas where they learn about the history of our water and wastewater sector, the importance of water, water and wastewater treatment, pipelines, conservation and other environmental issues. At the end of the tour, your knowledge is tested in a fun game of water jeopardy.
School Outreach
The Public Education Centre is also involved in a dynamic School Outreach Programme. Staff members visit schools throughout Trinidad to share information about WASA, water, wastewater and related environmental issues that affect our water supply.
Conference Room
The Conference Room is used to facilitate interactive discussions and multimedia presentations to the various groups that visit the Centre.
Kids Corner
This area was designed for children between the ages of 3 - 7 years old. The Kids Corner utilizes puppetry, an educational slideshow, story time, role-play, colouring and sing along to educate children about the importance of our water resources. The key message is to save and use water wisely.
