WASA CORRECTS ERRONEOUS WHATS APP VOICE MESSAGE

The Water and Sewerage Authority (the Authority) has noted the continued circulation of an erroneous WhatsApp voice message stating that “half of the water treatment plants have been shut down due to dirty water and the other half would be shut down in a matter of hours”.

The Authority has issued updates on the status of its Water Treatment Plants (WTPs) and, at the height of the heavy rainfall, a maximum of seventeen (17) were affected – eleven (11) in Trinidad and six (6) in Tobago out of a total of seventy eight (78). At present, six (6) are still being affected – five (5) in Trinidad and one (1) in Tobago.

The Authority continues working towards addressing the problems affecting these facilities with the aim of returning full operation in the shortest possible time.

The Authority will continue to update customers in this regard
