CUSTOMERS SERVED BY THE NORTH OROPOUCHE WATER TREATMENT PLANT

The Water and Sewerage Authority (the Authority) advises customers served by the North Oropouche Water Treatment Plant, who are currently experiencing an irregular water supply that, this is due to significantly reduced production from the facility, as a consequence of the harsh Dry Season conditions. The Plant normally produces 23 million gallons per day (mgd), however over the last several weeks production has been reduced to 14 mgd, due to reduced water availability caused by the below normal dry conditions.

Customers at elevated points and the extremities of the distribution system are affected including the following areas:

  • Manzanilla
  • Tumpuna Road/ San Rafael
  • La Horquetta
  • Maloney
  • Oropune Gardens
  • Malabar Phases 1, 3 & 4
  • Brazil
  • Carapo/ O’Meara Road
  • Five Rivers
  • Golden Grove Road

In keeping with the Authority’s Water Supply Management Plan, water supply schedules have been amended. However, where customers continue to be negatively impacted, the water trucking service has been expanded to accommodate the increased demand. Notwithstanding this, customers making request for a truck borne supply are advised that it may take a few days to receive their delivery based on demand.

The Authority wishes to assure customers that it continues to manage the water supply and demand to ensure the sustainability of supplies to our customers to assist with the fight against the Covid-19 virus. Customers are encouraged to manage their water use wisely by engaging in proper water conservation habits and comply with the water use restrictions which continue to be in force.
