LANDSLIP DISRUPTS SERVICE TO
CUSTOMERS IN PARTS OF PENAL

The Water and Sewerage Authority (the Authority) advises customers in parts of the Penal area, who are currently experiencing a disruption in their pipe borne water supply that, this is due to the landslip located at LP 309 San Fernando Siparia Erin Road, Syne Village, which has resulted in the isolation of supply on the 16 inch diameter transmission pipeline in the area. The Authority is working in collaboration with the Ministry of Works to relocate the pipeline, as part of the ongoing works to rehabilitate the area of the landslip. These pipeline relocation works are expected to be completed by Thursday 2021 August 26.

The areas affected throughout the period of repairs include:

  • Sunrees Road
  • Katwaroo Trace
  • 1 Mile Mark
  • Murderer Hill
  • Patiram Trace
  • Ramdeen Trace
  • Azim Avenue
  • Ragoonan Trace

The following affected areas are expected to receive a supply today – Monday 2021 August 23, via alternative source arrangements:

  • San Francique Road
  • Debedial Road
  • Syne Trace
  • Alta Garcia
  • La Costena
  • Gonzales Trace
  • Solomon Knox Road
  • Syne Village

Customers are advised that it may take up to 24 hours for the scheduled pipe borne water supply to normalize to some affected areas following the completion of these works.

A limited truck-borne water service will be available upon request. For further information or assistance, customers are asked to contact WASA’s Customer Call Centre toll free at 800-4420/4426.

The Authority apologises for the inconvenience and thanks customers for their patience and understanding.
