REPAIRS TO LEAKING 42” TRANSMISSION PIPELINE COMPLETED AHEAD OF TIME

The Water and Sewerage Authority (the Authority) is pleased to announce that repairs to the ruptured 42 inch transmission pipeline, off the North Oropouche Water Treatment Plant, located in the cross-country area of Valencia, has been completed ahead of time.

Crews working around the clock since last Tuesday evening, completed the repair works overnight and the Plant was restarted at 8:00 a.m. today – Thursday 25th August, 2022. This is 38 hours ahead of the anticipated time of 10:00 p.m. on Friday 26th August, 2022. The Authority thanks members of the repair team for their hard work and dedication, towards completing these works at the earliest.

The Authority is currently working to restore the service to affected areas in accordance with established water supply schedules, however customers are advised that it may take up to forty-eight (48) hours for the service to normalize to some areas.

The Authority thanks customers for their patience and understanding during the period of disruption and assures that every effort is being made to restore normalcy to their service in the shortest time possible.
