UPDATE ON REDUCED PRODUCTION FROM THE NORTH OROPOUCHE WATER TREATMENT PLANT

The Water and Sewerage Authority, (the Authority), advises that repair works to a defective raw water pump at the North Oropouche Water Treatment Plant is underway. The pump was extracted early this morning and is currently being assessed. This has resulted in a drop in production from 20 million gallons per day (mgd) to now, 15 mgd, with the river presenting high turbidity levels due to intense overnight rainfall.

AFFECTED AREAS STATUS
Sangre Grande (Town), Sangre Chiquito, Manzanilla, Coalmine, Guaico/Guaico Tamana, Malabar Phases 1,3 & 4, Tumpuna Road, San Rafael, Brazil, La Horquetta, Carapo/O’Meara Road, Signature Park/Mausica Road, Maloney Gardens, Five Rivers, Oropune Gardens, Millennium Park, Sunrise Park, Golden Grove Road Repair works are underway.

Customers are further advised that following the completion of these works, it may take up to twelve (12) hours for the supply to normalize to some affected areas.

A limited truck borne service will be available upon request. This can be requested through the following self-service options:

  • Use of the mobile WASA Services App which can be downloaded for Android mobile customers from the Play Store or iPhone mobile customers from the Apple store; or
  • Use of the Customer Portal available on the Authority’s website: www.wasa.gov.tt.
